About HM Prisons Service – Government

Her Majesty’s Prison Service is a part of Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service, which is the part of Her Majesty’s Government charged with managing most of the prisons within England and Wales.

The Challenge

Cyprium was approached by a third party who provides an invaluable service for the inmates of HM Prison Service. They provide a solution to allow prisoners to pay for bundled calls to deter them from using mobile phones illegally but more importantly to allow the inmates who are serving their time to contact their relatives & loved ones.

The Solution

Some aspects of the solution were already in place, but our partner was aware of the need to implement the correct PCI-DSS compliant payment procedures. As an incoming call & payment specialist Cyprium work with many providers who do not have the skill set & are unable to provide the payment solutions themselves. We work closely with other partners to ensure the solution meets all the individual requirements of the specifications set out.

Working with our partners Cyprium was able to provide Agent Assisted phone payments to enable PCI-DSS compliant payments by the prisoners. The prisoners call a designated number & call centre agent answers the call. Once a payment plan is chosen the caller is transferred to our secure payment platform & requested to enter their credit or debit card details. Both the caller & agent can speak at any time to discuss any queries with the payment, but the agent cannot hear any sensitive card details entered.
